Holistic Approach to Health

Ayurveda takes a holistic approach to health, focusing on the mind, body, and spirit. This approach recognizes that all aspects of an individual's life are interconnected and must be addressed to achieve optimal health.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old holistic healing system that originated in India. Ayurveda is based on the belief that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected and that balance is the key to maintaining good health. The best approach is that Ayurveda focuses on preventing illness rather than just treating symptoms. The practice of Ayurveda is important because it is an all-inclusive science that seeks to holistically heal and balance people’s lives naturally and spiritually. Ayurveda does not treat symptoms but uses the principles of prevention to promote recovery and maintain health. Through Ayurveda, people will understand the effects that the unbalanced doshas have on their constitutions and will be able to make responsible changes to adjust their doshas and naturally improve their overall health.

According to Ayurveda true health is when the body, mind, and spirit’s energies are harmoniously expressed in someone as a whole. The six signs of true health are:

✔      Clear and healthy radiant skin.

✔      Clear and bright eyes.

✔      Easy elimination of stool, urine, sweat, and tears.

✔      Even and balanced energy throughout the day without mood swings.

✔      Calm and peaceful attitude and behavior.

✔      Quiet and peaceful sleep, waking up refreshed.

The four pillars of health in Ayurveda

Ahar - Diet and eating habits.

Vihar - Daily life routine.

Nidra - Excellent sleep quality.

Brahmacharya -Good management of our physical and mental energy.

The holistic perspective of health requires that we focus on maintaining the unity of the mind, body, and spirit in order to preserve the necessary healthy balance to attain well-being. This method takes into account our emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being in addition to our symptoms. Following a holistic lifestyle will help to treat our entire selves rather than just specific symptoms to tackle the root causes of imbalance and encourage internal healing. Panchakarma, yoga, meditation, and mindfulness are among the practices that are frequently used in Ayurveda to enhance the body's inherent capacity for healing and preserving optimal health. The holistic approach to healing strives to promote overall wellness by addressing all aspects of our health. By incorporating practices that support mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being in addition to physical health, we can achieve a more comprehensive state of balance and vitality. The four pillars of health are important because through them people can achieve physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Good eating habits with daily beneficial physical, emotional, and spiritual routines are the foundation of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda focuses on balancing the body’s energy. For healing to happen in the body there must be a healthy balance of the doshas because everything in life as in the body is codependent. People who want to live a healthy and long life must strive to maintain and healthy lifestyle that focuses on healthy eating habits, daily physical, mental, spiritual routines, self-care, and good management of their energy.
